Snack Bar Bom Retiro was born in 2022 from Janine's vision. She grew up in Companheira, Portimão, and always dreamed of creating a space where locals would feel at home. With a firm focus on charcoal grills and fresh daily produce, she opened the doors to serve her community with what she does best: traditional Algarve cuisine with soul.
Here, the customer is not a number, but a friend. Each meal is prepared with dedication, from the fresh fish chosen in the morning to the hand-selected meats, all grilled over charcoal as tradition dictates.

Janine, the Founder
Janine grew up in Companheira, right in the heart of Portimão, and always dreamed of creating a space where neighbors, friends and families could gather around a good meal. In 2022, she took the step and opened Snack Bar Bom Retiro, an uncomplicated place where food quality and human warmth go hand in hand.
Her goal is simple: to serve dishes she herself would like to eat, with fresh ingredients, traditional recipes and a genuine smile. She is inspired by the cooking of Algarve grandmothers and the relaxed conviviality of southern petiscos. For Janine, every satisfied customer is the greatest reward.
